TEAM NEWS: Di Maria starts for Madrid's clash with Dortmund

The Argentine winger returns to the home side's XI after his daughter's birth confined him to the bench in the first leg, while Klopp restores his regulars after a weekend rest

Angel Di Maria has returned to the Real Madrid starting XI for their Champions League semi-final second-leg clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.

The Argentine was benched for the first leg in Germany one week prior to his daughter's birth but with the hosts looking to overturn a 4-1 deficit, Jose Mourinho has looked to have his preferred attacking options on the field.

Cristiano Ronaldo, rested for the Madrid derby win over Atletico at the weekend, joins Di Maria, Mesut Ozil and Gonzalo Higuain in Madrid’s attacking quartet, with Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric providing a creative base in midfield.

Diego Lopez is in goal in front of a back four of Michael Essien, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos and Fabio Coentrao.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has made no less than 10 changes to his side, putting his strongest line-up out after fielding a host of reserves during his side’s Bundesliga victory at Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday.

Mats Hummels is the only surviving member of the weekend XI, and is joined in defence by Lukasz Piszczek, Neven Subotic and Marcel Schmelzer, with Roman Weidenfeller in goal.

Sven Bender and Ilkay Gundogan assume the central midfield positions, while Jakub Blaszczykowski, Mario Gotze and Marco Reus play in behind first-leg hero Robert Lewandowski.

Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Diego Lopez; Varane, Ramos, Coentrao, Essien; Xabi Alonso, Modric; Cristiano Ronaldo, Ozil, Di Maria; Higuain.

Subs: Casillas, Pepe, Khedira, Kaka, Benzema, Albiol, Morata.

Borussia Dortmund (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Bender, Gundogan; Blaszczykowski, Gotze, Reus; Lewandowski.
